How far in advance should we book?

Dates are reserved on a "first come, first served" basis, so we encourage you to book early. A deposit is required at the time of contract to reserve a date.

 

Will you help choose music for our event? 

Yes. One of our specialties is to create a "musical narrative" tailored to your individual style. We will discuss various parts of your wedding ceremony and guide you in selecting the perfect music for each section of your event.

 

What styles of music do you play? 

We have a diverse repertoire ranging from classical to light jazz, show tunes, latin favorites, tangos and popular songs. We continually update our repertoire with modern, contemporary rock, R&B, and jazz arrangements.

 

Do you do special music arrangements? 

Yes, with pleasure. We will arrange any music specifically for an ensemble combination of your choice and usually at no extra cost.

 

Can you engage other instruments and/or a vocal soloist? 

Yes. We engage and perform with trumpet, piano, flute, oboe, harp, organ, guitar and vocal artists.

 

Can you provide music for the entire event? 

Yes! We specialize in performing during ceremonies, receptions, cocktail hours and many other types of private events.

 

What are the differences in the string ensembles?
The right ensemble will depend on how large your venue is, if it is indoors or outdoors, and what kind of music you require.

 

What do you wear?

We usually wear concert black attire. Sometimes we're asked to wear different clothing. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your event.

 

When do you arrive? 

We usually arrive half an hour prior to our scheduled playing time. 

 

Do you use amplification? 

We perform on fine concert instruments that are capable of filling a concert hall with sound. Thus, amplification is generally not necessary.

 

Do you play outdoors? 

Of course! Outdoor events are wonderful. We simply require that we have a covered performance area. Direct sunlight can cause irreparable damage to our expensive instruments. Moreover, our instruments cannot be exposed to any sort of water (rain, fountains, extreme humidity). We will be happy to work to find a solution for any possible issues concerning your particular venue.

 

Can you play for Jewish ceremonies? 

Yes. We have a complete library of appropriate music and a great deal of experience. 

 

Do you know how to follow the mass at a Roman Catholic service? 

Yes. We are very experienced in the order of the mass, as well as other denominational and civil ceremonies. We can accompany all the parts of the mass. We can work with the church organist or provide our own.

 

What do you require to perform? 

The ensemble requires only several armless upright chairs

 

When is the final payment due?

We do prefer getting the balance two weeks prior to the event, that way neither you nor we have to think about it. As an option, you can pay on the day of your event, we accept all major credit cards.

 

Do we need to meet in person? 

It is actually not necessary to meet in person. All details can be addressed over the phone or via e-mail, but, if you prefer meeting in person, we would be happy to do so.

 

Will you attend the wedding rehearsal?

It is really not necessary for us to attend rehearsals since we are very adept in timing the music to the right length. Having said that, there have been occasions, where the music choices and number of performers made it important to have a rehearsal before the wedding day (a fee typically applies).

 

My wedding ceremony and reception are in two different locations. How is the charge?

In a situation like this, which is quite common, we charge for the length of the engagement, including the time to travel between venues. In other words, from the start of the prelude until the end of our playing time at the reception. Feel free to contact us to discuss your event.

 

What if the ceremony starts late?
It is rare, but if your wedding ceremony is delayed I will play prelude music to entertain your guests. We will never leave in the middle of a ceremony as we don't ever book weddings back to back!
Please keep in mind that overtime is charged for events that start late and go more than 15 minutes late. ($25 per 15 minutes overtime)

 

What if I cancel?
Unforseen circumstances happen, and we understand that. If a cancellation is made more than 30 days before your event, your deposit will be kept as liquidation damages and we will return your balance, if it has already been made. The strength of our policy allows us to permanently reserve a date and time for your event, often turning down many other inquiries for the same date and time.
